The word on the street is that Swan and Bar Bevy, also in the Design District is the place for people watching, not surprising since an investor is Pharrell Williams. It’s said to be less formal than Alter “yet still stylish” with a menu of Asian inspired small plates. Fiola Miami serves contemporary takes on classic Italian cuisine from a variety of regions, as well as signature items from the original Washington D.C. Chef Fabio Trabocchi’s Michelin-starred dining concept Fiola has opened in Coral Gables this week. Chef Jamie DeRosa and pastry chef Hedy Goldsmith will be the culinary team behind it. John Kunkel of restaurant group 50 Eggs (Yardbird, Spring Chicken), announces they’ll be opening a new restaurant, Ad Lib, at the present site of their former eatery Swine in Coral Gables. This year they’re offering a menu that has all of the festive, celebratory ingredients - from fine champagne and truffles to foie gras and souffle (and beef wellington which you seldom see on menus these days regrettably). Pied a Terreįor an intimate, epicurean French dining experience you can’t go wrong with Pied a Terre in the Cadet Hotel in South Beach, another favorite. My favorite new Italian restaurant, Osteria Baiocco, 5599 Biscayne Blvd., has two dining options for New Year’s Eve featuring its delicious Roman cuisine. Its NYE experience package starts at $100K for 150 people. Just in, more options for New Year’s Eve to add to my earlier list ( click here if you missed it)….For the big spender, Myles Restaurant Group is offering a 6000 square foot private dining room and restaurant called Prime Private for New Years Eve, an extension of Prime 112, Prime Italian and Prime Hotel. Lots of news on four hot new restaurant openings like Fiola and Swan Miami, more appealing options for New Year’s Eve, frozen croissants that taste like the real thing and more.
